Michael Arike was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and now lives in Mamaroneck, New York. She received a BFA in Printmaking and Painting from Oklahoma State University, where she studied with Doel Reed. She has also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the New School.

Michael is a member of SAGA and serves on its council. She also belongs to Audubon Artists and the Print Club of Albany. Her many awards include the Silver medal from Audubon Artists and the Leavin Aware from the National Academy. In May 2003 she had a successful show at the Old Print Shop in New York City; she has had one-person shows at the Rensselaerville Institute, Silvermine Guild, and others. Her work has been included in many national and international shows, including ones in Spain, Hungary and Finland.

The British Museum, The New York Public Library, The Museum of the City of New York, The Portland Museum, The Housatanic Museum and The Federal Reserve Bank of New York all have Michael's work in their collections.
